The One Big Beautiful Bill Is a Sucker Punch to the Working Class

The “One Big Beautiful Bill” might sound nice, but it’s nothing short of a sucker punch to working-class people, especially here in Eastern Washington. It gives more money and power to people who already have too much, while making life harder for the rest of us. And we’re tired of it.

This bill is full of cuts that hurt regular people. It slashes food stamps (SNAP), makes it harder to get health care through Medicaid, and chips away at student aid for low-income families. It even codifies job cuts in important federal agencies like the National Park Service and the Bureau of Land Management. That means fewer rangers, fewer rescue services, and fewer jobs—especially in rural areas that depend on these positions.

To make matters worse, the bill sells off public lands that we use for hiking, hunting, and fishing. These are lands we all own and enjoy. Now, they’re being handed over to private developers, piece by piece. That’s not freedom it’s theft.

Meanwhile, the wealthy get a nice gift. The bill raises tax breaks for people making six figures and gives new write-offs for big corporations. The rest of us? We get higher costs, less help, and fewer rights.

Who Wins?

Billionaires and big business Land developers and fossil fuel companies Wealthy families with accountants and lawyers

Who Loses?

Farmers Nurses Teachers Young people trying to afford college Rural communities People just trying to get by

This bill is not just bad policy—it’s part of a bigger pattern. It’s another attack on workers, families, and communities that don’t have lobbyists in Washington, D.C. It shows us clearly: the people in power are not on our side.

That’s why we need to fight back. Not just at the ballot box, but everywhere—in our neighborhoods, schools, unions, and online. We need to speak up, get organized, and demand better.

It’s time for a working-class revolution in 2026.

We need leaders who will stand up for us, not sell us out. We need policies that help the many, not the few. Most of all, we need to come together as workers, neighbors, and citizens, and take back control of our future.

This isn’t just politics. This is survival. Let’s rise up and build something better, together.
